The Edgemont School Foundation (ESF) is proud to announce the approval of a new grant of approximately $28,000 to refresh two A-School & Humanities classrooms at Edgemont Jr/Sr High School.
Building on ESF’s original investment in the space nearly a decade ago, the latest grant will provide new flexible seating, mobile whiteboards and adaptable tables. The new furniture will replace aging furniture and support a collaborative learning environment used by A-School students and the broader school community.
A-School, also known as Phaedrus, is an alternative academic program for students in Grades 11 and 12 at EHS that emphasizes personal responsibility and experiential learning outside the traditional classroom structure. ESF’s long-standing support has helped the program create a dynamic and supportive setting in which students can succeed as learners.
Connected by a sliding glass door, the two classrooms (E10 and E11) can accommodate larger presentations, small-group collaboration and individual learning. Flexible furniture allows teachers and students to easily reconfigure the spaces to suit different instructional needs.
The impact of these classrooms extends well beyond the A-School. While A-School classes meet in the afternoons, the spaces are used for Humanities classes in the mornings and frequently host professional development sessions for teachers. On average, more than 140 students use these learning spaces each day.
This latest investment builds on ESF’s original support for the classrooms in 2017, ensuring that these shared learning spaces continue to evolve with the needs of Edgemont students. As the district explores new ways to prepare students for success beyond graduation, ESF remains committed to supporting innovative educational environments that encourage collaboration, critical thinking and student engagement.
